RECIPE NOTES

Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: 20-25 minutes
Makes 6-8 portions

 

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2½ tsp baking soda

  • 1 stick of butter (cold and cut into cubes)

  • ¾ cup buttermilk (regular milk can be substituted)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1-1½ cup of blueberries (nuts, chips of any kind, or fresh fruit can be substituted)

 

DIRECTIONS
  1. Combine all ingredients together (except the buttermilk) and mix until pea-sized crumbles begin to appear.

  2. Add the buttermilk and mix just until the mixture starts to come together.

  3. Place dough onto a floured surface and shape into a 9” circle that is 1” thick.

  4. Cut dough into 6 or 8 pie shaped pieces.

  5. Brush tops with a small amount of heavy cream and sprinkle tops with coarse sugar.

  6. Bake at 350°F for approx. 18-24 min.
