June 2019

Being part of the Campus Dining team for many years, I’ve been blessed to work with a great team and have met many people from around the world including students and faculty. I miss greeting all of them in our cafes with a fresh cup of coffee.

I know it’s strange to be off campus right now but I hope you can try to think positively. This is a time that we more than likely will never have again, so do something that when you look back years from now, you’ll smile and be grateful. Cook a meal that you never cooked before. Call an old friend that you haven’t talk to in a while. Write a letter to your grandmother. Make someone’s day! They will be thrilled and you will feel great.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all again so we can share our quarantine stories. I hope you appreciate this time with your loved ones and be thankful for every day that you and they are well.

A message to our community

As we acclimate to the new ways on campus, I realize so much has changed in just a few days. Some of the things that gave me the most joy, such as meeting with our students, talking with you during special events, or meeting my colleagues can no longer happen in the same way, at least for the time being. Along with my team, I wanted to think of ways to keep our connections alive, continue to show our care, and engage with our community. That being said, we are starting a new series called, Care.Connection.Community through which we will share messages with you.

Stay healthy and be well,
Smitha
